ENGINE The Cat C15 engine offers unmatched overload force when digging, hitching and crossing steep grades. The torque reserve adjusts to the gearshift points to ensure maximum efficiency and fast cycle times. The high-pressure direct injection fuel system, equipped with the mechanically controlled electronic fuel injector (MEUI ™) system, electronically monitors driver requests and sensor inputs to optimize engine performance. Air-to-air intake cooling improves fuel economy by storing cooler, denser air in the cylinders to improve fuel combustion and reduce emissions.
PROTECTION AGAINST OVERRIDGING The Automatic Retarder Control (ARC) control system provides over-revving engine protection. The ARC engages the brakes if the following conditions occur at the same time:
Attenuation of a dangerous engine speed. ARC on / off switch in ON or OFF position. Driver pressing the accelerator. If the transmission is at the highest gear, the lock-up clutch is disabled to protect the engine from over-revving.
